Facilities and Commodities

The testing is primarily conducted at the 40 acre Botany and Plant Pathology Research Farm located across the Willamette River from Corvallis. Several orchards have been established for this program including apples, pears, peaches and cherries. Blueberry, grape, Japanese Maple and lilac plantings are also available. Several different cultivars are available to capitalize on their resistant or phenological characteristics. Cultivars available include:

Blueberry:
'Bluetta' and 'Berkley'

Grape:
'Cabernet Sauvignon', 'Chardonnay', 'Merlot', 'Pinot Noir', 'Pinot Gris' and 'White Riesling'

Hazelnut:
'Ennis' and several numbered selections.

Ornamentals:
Lilac - 'Ellen Willmott'

Maple: 'Oshio Beni', 'Sango Kaku'

Serviceberry

Pome Fruit:
Apple- 'Braeburn', 'Golden Delicious', 'Jonathan', 'Red Delicious' and 'Rome '

Pear: 'Bartlett '

Stone Fruit:
Cherry- 'Bing', 'Black Republican', 'Corum' and 'Royal Anne'

Peach: 'Improved Elberta' and 'Red Haven'

Laboratory facilities are also available at the OSU campus for closer examination of disease development and evaluation. This could include determination of latent infections, isolation of pathogens from diseased tissues, determining degree of resistance of pathogens to control measures, closer examination of phytotoxic effects to plants and evaluation of post harvest disease development.
